The Cumberland Argus and Fruitgrowers Advocate, Saturday 14 August 1897

ROMAN CATHOLIC BALL AT GRANVILLE.

A Great Success.

A very successful ball in aid of St. John's Roman Catholic- Church, Auburn, was held in the Albert Hall, Granville, on Tuesday night. There was an extraordinarily large muster and everything passed off pleasantly. The room was very nicely decorated, due to the good taste of Nurse King, who had charge of the decorating, and the supper room was also gaily draped. Mr. C. Guyot made an efficient M.C., and excellent music was provided by Messrs. G. Grace (piano), F. Willisford (clarionette) and A. Leabeater (cornet). The whole of the arrangements worked smoothly, and reflected great credit on tho hard-working committee, composed as follows : — The Rev. P. O'Reilly, Messrs. Gannon (Sec), Murphy, Larcombe and Weeks. The ladies' committee consisted of the following young ladies : — Misses Lynch (2), Tregonning (2), Smith (2), McHugh. Gallagher, Murphy, Darmody(President), Nur.se King and Nurse Cregan (Treasurers), Miss S. Smith (Secre tary), McFadden, Connelly, Carter (2), and Blanch.
